Microtech Group are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr John Freestone as new Medical Director. Originally from Northern Ireland, Dr Freestone graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2004 with a MBChB Medicine degree and worked in various training jobs throughout Scotland.
It was after this he began his career as a General Practitioner, becoming fully qualified in 2009, and in addition to carrying out his daily role as a GP, Dr Freestone also works as an Associate Medical Director for Primary Care in Ayrshire and Arran.
With over 14 years’ experience in the public sector, Dr Freestone developed his leadership skills gaining a national role for RCGP Scotland and dedicates his time to global health tech start-up as Chief Partnerships Officer DoctorPulse - currently starting to work in the U.K., UAE and Kenya.
Due to having a keen interest in technology in health, Dr Freestone believes in empowering patients to make the right choices for managing their health. Having worked with Telehealth products before including CareHomePod and SurgeryPod, this sparked Dr Freestone’s interest in our Telehealth division and his appointment as Medical Director soon followed.
